I'm a little later than usual getting this out today.  It's been raining for the last two weeks so I wanted to make sure I got in a long walk today without it pouring on me.  

With the summer months upon us I thought this topic might interest you.  Whether you're going to the lake, beach, weekend getaway, gym or have a baby in tow these bags are super cute and hold a lot.  Several of them even have water bottle holders inside.  I really like this idea because I'm always carrying around a water bottle and hate laying it at the bottom of my purse.  The bags I've listed are all $50 and under including shipping!

This French fashion blogger, Alix, has some of the freshest looks I've seen.  She even has her own line.  One of the coolest things is that her blog is written in French and translated into English by someone else.  Seriously, I was enthralled and couldn't help myself from viewing one page after another.  Right now she even has several pages of pictures that bring the streets of Hong Kong and beyond to life.      

Popina Swimsuit Sneak Peek

Here's a preview of yesterday's shoot I did with Kim+Phil photography, stylist Rebecca Westby, and model Heather Rieder.  The swimsuit is from Popina Swimwear a local Portland boutique that sells vintage and retro swimsuits.  

Jared and our golden retriever Rusty got to come along too!  Jared filmed some behind the scenes footage and in some coming pictures you may even see Rusty modeling.

Flour Tortillas

Jared and I have taken to making our own flour tortillas.  We find a huge satisfaction in making things from scratch especially when they taste better than store bought tortillas.  I don't know how I lived in China for so many years and didn't make more things from scratch.  The recipe is simple but you should plan for it to take 1 hour total from beginning to end.  Letting them sit is key.  We found out the hard way that it makes all the difference.  I'm sure you can substitute 1 cup of whole wheat flour for one cup of all-purpose flour too.  Here's the recipe for chewy flour tortillas.     

Maternity Sneak Peak

Here's a sneak peak of the maternity shoot I did with Lavenda Memory.  It had been raining on and off all day.  I was hoping by 7pm it would have passed us by.  Well, it sort of did.  Our original destination looked like it was still coming down but we saw a break in the clouds at a nearby park.  So we took our opportunity and ran with it.        

Headbands

Are you wondering how to wear a headband this summer?  Or what type of headband?  Look no farther.  It's all about the sporty look.  A stretchy breathable fabric worn just above the ear with a slight reference to the 80's fitness gurus.  Go with either a solid or striped fabric and tend more towards wearing your hair down.  Although with my curls you'll probably be seeing my hair in a high messy bun with these headbands.

Cute little ruffled underwear are popping up all over the blog world.  Have you seen them?  I don't know if you could wear them under anything but wouldn't they be fun to wear around the house on a lazy weekend morning?

It seems like everyone has been dusting off their bicycles and enjoying the warmer weather we're finally getting.  These bicycle bags and the U-Lock holster seem like perfect accessories to carefree riding.  All I need now is a bicycle.

One of my favorite things about the show "So You Think You Can Dance" is Cat Deeley's outfits and hair styles from week to week.  Is anyone else with me on this?  I can't wait for the season to start on May 27.  And I just found out yesterday that Mary Murphy isn't going to be a permanent judge this season, Mia Michaels is replacing her!  The show needed some shaking up and this is definitely going to switch things up a bit.       

Fencing

Here are some recent pictures with Kim+Phil and model Carley.  Carley has the healthiest long hair I've ever seen!  She's was so down to earth as well.   

Yesterday we had our 34 week check up and this rug finally arrived much to my delight.  The rug looks just as I imagined in front of the crib. Now just a few more touches and we'll be finished with the nursery corner.  Just in time for baby!

Wallace Park

I've been meaning to post some of these pictures from a recent stylized engagement shoot Kim+Phil did at Wallace Park.  I wasn't there to do the makeup.  It was the same day as the Vancouver, BC makeup show.   But the pictures are just too cute to pass up.  Pictures can say a lot about a couple.  

I briefly got to meet Petrel and Jacob about a week ago and Mandi from Champagne Wedding and Events who coordinated the shoot.  It was a fun night of bowling.  Petrel is also the owner of The Wedding Cottage, a boutique that provides "everything but the dress."

To the beach we go!

Are you chomping at the bit to get out to the beach or lake this summer?  These beautiful pictures taken by Lavenda were located along the Columbia river.  It was a cold and windy day but Kayleen was a true professional and dove right in (wardrobe changes and all).  There was one point were I had to change up her makeup.  We were both shaking but we did like Tim Gunn and made it work!  I always have the hardest time deciding which pictures to post and then which one is my absolute favorite.  Do you have a favorite?

Back to the future

I think you're going to enjoy today's pictures from Kim+Phil.  The hair and makeup on Portland's newest model, Sarah Pine, was done by yours truly.  Sarah hails Las Vegas as her hometown.  Before the shoot, Kim+Phil had sent her some inspiration photos. She went as far as to buy suspenders and leggings to help get the look.  That's true dedication to the profession.  Sarah's skin is one of the lightest I've worked with but luckily I had foundation to match.  Kim wanted to play up her pale skin with black smoky eyes.  I love the contrast and how it works with the overall style.  The first four are film pictures and the last two are digital pictures.

One thing to about me:  I don't buy impulsively, especially big ticket items.  I especially don't like to buy personal items unless they are on sale.  So when I told Jared this morning that I ordered this Anthropologie rug for the baby area he said, "Welcome to the dark side!"
